Do you know if they are calling all of their customers To inform them? It seems very late to do so now that it's been about a month....and everyone has been left to wonder. I hope they are making rounds to inform everyone as a lot of people have lost out on grands worth of money and probably will never see it

I also was able to speak to Diane. Sad situation for sure... I had always been extremely satisfied with the service and product. If anyone finds a new supplier they are happy with please post!

I got a call from Diane at Spenser today. They are indeed bankrupt. She advised me to put a stop on the monthly withdrawals, which I did. Anyone else who has automatic debit should do the same just in case the finance company that was doing this for Spenser decides to cover some of their losses by raiding your account.
Im going to miss Spenser; Ive been a customer for over ten years, had no complaints and they always treated me well. They delivered half my order last fall and I just made the sixth payment (of ten), so I guess Im out a few bucks, but its not the end of the world.
Now I need to find a reputable food service. I found a few who werent before I landed on Spenser.

We have been Spencer Foods customers for more than 5 years and I have loved them. They have been kinda funky since they called before Christmas to offer us a Christmas delivery. We ordered, they sent another new contract. We didnt sign as I was not impressed with the way they did a back end transaction to renew our contract. Have been in contact with them throughout January and February and reorganized our re-order. Was supposed to arrive two weeks ago. Finally called tonight and all the lines are out of service.
I feel sorry for those that have been screwed by them. We actually owe them money for the delivery we got right before Christmas and didnt have a renewed contract.
Problem now is that we are out of meat. Anyone have any idea of any other local companies that offer the same service? We used to deal with Taste Better Foods before Spencer Foods but switched because Spencer was local. I really love the chicken we got from them. I cant imagine having to buy meat from the store now.
If anyone has any info on other local companies, please reply and I will investigate alternative options.
I'm in the same boat. Great service until we went to call for our third order. No notice no information, nothing In the mail. Not sure how to get a refund for undelivered services, or if auto withdrawals will stop Automatically.
Have been a customer for quite a number of years and attempted to call to arrange for our third delivery. Will stop payment on our automatic withdrawals. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org if anyone has any further information.
Just figured this out. Disappointed as I liked their service. Would have appreciated some info from them.

I've been to the Woodward address, there is no 1740 woodward. perhaps its just a mailbox, but nobody around there have seen spencer foods.
I did go their house. 1 allenby in Kanata. All their curtains were closed and would not answer the door. There were 3 cars in the driveway.

This is me, too, but Im pretty sure you still have to pay them for that one order. Our payments were monthly for 10 months, and the orders were every 3-4 months. I got a delivery in January but didnt pay until February, and they took a payment yesterday. Id love to say screw you, give me my money back but I did receive one order. I will tell my bank to stop letting them take further payments, but Im not sure about the one I just paid.
I have been dealing with this company for 8 years and never had an issue. I was supposed to get my order on Feb 6th, I received a call saying their truck had broken down and they would deliver the following week. Next thing I know they are on vacation and then their number was disconnected and their web site is down. They did manage to withdraw the payment from my account in Feb. I have contacted my bank to stop payment for March and going forward. I am trying to contact Uninet Leasing which is the company that does the automatic withdrawals and they are not answering. I believe they are part of the same family as the Spencers. Has anyone been to their address?

I am currently in the middle of a plan with them - was trying to arrange my next delivery - so it seems they are gone?
I have a monthly deduction from my bank account - i guess I can put a stop payment on that until we see what's happened.
If you do find more information pls notify me and I will gladly work with you in your action here.
So they disappear off the face of the earth and leave all their customers hanging with not a word! Very very disappointed. I will also be working with BBB and police. Please reply to me if you have also lost out on food, maybe we can all work together? I know our family as well as my sisters has lost out on orders
I have been a customer of Spencer Foods for more than 5 years now. The service is fantastic, great quality meat and has made our crazy family schedule so much easier. Meals are easy to plan as we always have a variety of meat on hand and grocery shopping a breeze without have to shop for decent quality and pricing on meat.
I am very pleased with my freezer order. Spencer Foods personnel are Easy to deal with, great quality meat, and easy to modify your order to get what you want...for us more meat and fish, less groceries. I was always leery of freezer orders but to date I am extremely happy with this company
